A complete overview of this event

It may be hard to believe, but Spring is just around the corner and its time to prepare for winter's thaw with the 8th annual DAFFODIL DAZE "Spring Celebration" & Shuttle Tour up Daffodil Hill.

While Mother Nature does not provide an exact date for daffodils to reach their full bloom, organizers have noted the peak of the season in Shady Cove is generally the Saturday following the "first day of spring" - this year, that date, March 22, falls "the day before Easter"!

HOP ON BOARD!

This annual event, sponsored by the Upper Rogue Regional Tourism Alliance (URRTA), will feature the traditional two mile scenic shuttle tour up Daffodil Hill. Enjoy more than a million fragrant yellow blooms along the roadside and as far as the eye can see into the woods and meadows. Meet the Shady Cove deer and wild turkey families.

On this day, those riding the shuttles may go up to The Oaks Pond where you can take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the Rogue Valley and Siskiyou Mountains without leaving your shuttle. Return shuttles will stop at all festival activities throughout the village of Shady Cove.

DAFFODIL BANNERS LINE THE VILLAGE to welcome the arrival of Spring and visitors to Shady Cove
In anticipation of spring's fragrant yellow blooms, the Shady Cove Boosters take pride in hanging festive daffodil banners throughout the business community and on the Shady Cove bridge to welcome the arrival of Spring and guests to the 8th annual community-wide celebration of Spring.

Daffodils start blooming about mid-March, reaching their peak towards the end of March. Depending on the weather, they continue blooming through the end of April; sometimes into May. This year, Daffodil Hill is thawing from several inches of snow, but the loyal daffys are beginning to spout through the ground showing promise of being right on schedule for this year's Daffodil Daze celebration.

SELF-GUIDED TOUR
If you opt to take the two mile "self-guided tour" up Daffodil Hill (in your own vehicle) you may do so during the Daffodil Daze celebration, or anytime during the blooming season, but we ask that you use the "turn around" at the Big Oak Tree; a sign is posted.
