where others see nothing unusual." Nature, architecture,
light and color all play a role in my photographic

with the Shady Cove Bridge, in the historic 1964

of water. Since then, the Lost Creek Dam was built
to control floodwaters and, today, the Shady Cove
Bridge is known as the gateway to Crater Lake National
Park. Debby has received numerous awards; she is

Numerous award winning Upper Rogue Artists, celebrating
over 37 years of artistic talent and activity, will
be featured throughout this two-day event.

year, Debby showed, for the first time, her fine
art collection at the River ArtWalk; the positive
response to her work and her love of art has taken
her into a whirl wind year. She received commission
from the Pear Blossom Festival to paint their 2009
Poster. As a new member of the Upper Rogue Artists
Association she has brought energy and foresight
to this professional group of artists and won 3rd
Place Water Color at their Spring Critique Luncheon.
Her new paintings include: "Last Load of the Day"
(pictured above, left), "Logging Team", "Old
Logger", "Ivory","Dance of Thanksgiving" and "Daffodils"
- "Cochise Rodeo" (pictured above)

Dorothy
Dierks
Having been fascinated with artists and their
paintings all my extremely busy working years,
I found little bits of time around age 45 and
started painting on my own with the help of videos,
art books, and a few classes and later one excellent
mentor. This continued on for the next 20 years
and as retirement would have it I now have more
time to pursue my painting frenzy. Living in Oregon
all my life gave me the opportunity to fall for
the beautiful ocean waves of our Oregon coast
line. Ocean waves #1 on my painting list. in 2008
I joined the Upper Rogue Art Association and now
am honored to have the position as president,
newspaper correspondent and co-chairperson of
the Upper Rogue Critique Luncheon, member of the
Eagle Point Library Arts Advisory Committee, chosen
poster paintings for the Shady Cove Fire Department,
and chosen best of show form 2008 from the Upper
Rogue Art Association paint out. My plan now is
to make up for lost time and paint, paint, and
then paint some more. those of you who think you
would like to become an artist may consider this
advice... THERE IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT......
Sincerely, and love to all you future artists.......Dorothy

PAUL
BUNCH
Today
people want to escape to simpler,
happy places, which are becoming more
difficult to find. I create visions
of locales that are different than
the typical, mundane things people
see every day. My desire is to transport
the viewer into a dreamlike, magical
setting with each painting I create.
Growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, I
created pictures all the time, and
ever since high school I have been
painting. When I walk into my studio,
I bring with me 30-years' experience
as a graphic designer and illustrator.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts
in commercial art from Northern Arizona
University focusing mainly on illustration.
In
recent years, with the proliferation
of new and exciting art materials,
my interest in creating beautiful
paintings has become stronger. Texture
has always motivated my art, and I
like to create unusual and idealistic
scenes that captivate the imagination.
My goal is to create a picture that
the viewer can personally interact
with, rather than just provide a skillful,
photographic rendition of all the
details. Approaching my scenes in
an impressionistic fashion, I use
surprising tools, techniques and elements
in conjunction with acrylic paints
to give a three-dimensional quality
to my pictures. Included are painting
implements such as credit cards cut
in different-sized strips, and texturizing
materials such as modeling paste,
wrinkled tissue paper, cheesecloth,
salt and glass beads. These techniques
and materials, along with intriguing
compositions of Tuscany and other
romantic locales, have made many people
comment that my paintings are different
than anything they have ever seen
before.
|
ADAM
BUNCH
Pure
fantasy and a sense of spirited adventure
form the basis of my work. Strong
design elements and themes are predominant,
pulling everything together to make
a bold statement.
From
a very early age, art has captured
my imagination and fueled my creative
spirit. I grew up reading books and
watching movies, that conjured up
fantastical imagery in my mind, inspiring
me to create worlds and characters
of my own, on paper.
I
like to experiment with many techniques,
pushing the darks and lights as much
as possible, seeing where the painting
will take me. Every piece is a challenge,
and offers up new and exciting discoveries.
The
primary goal with each painting is
to make the viewer feel as if they
are being transported to another world
and time, in which reality is both
heightened and stretched beyond its
boundaries.

JOHN
SULLIVAN
I've
been taught to paint what I see; however
I prefer to paint as my heart dictates.
Whether it's a heroic adventurer fighting
against impossible odds, a faerie
hovering in front of a puppy to gain
its attention, or a wolf poking his
nose out to smell the moist air of
a redwood forest.
Though
my medium is acrylics, my art is about
the beauty of imagination and the
wonder of adventure.
I was born in the deserts of Las Vegas,
Nevada, and even as a child, I was
captured by paper, crayons, and pencils.
Adventure took me to Cal State University
Fullerton where I received a Bachelor
of Arts in Illustration. I was lured
northward to the Pacific Northwest
where I experienced the living beauty
of the Redwoods and that was where
my art first achieved its vibrant
life!
My
goal is to portray worlds beyond our
current times and lives. Places that
emphasize heroic struggles, lost worlds,
romance and eldritch horrors from
beyond the stars. Look with me and
experience the wonder, mystery and
splendor of Adventure with a touch
of fantasy.
